Now that Hanukkah is over, I have started working on Artist Masters projects with my students. This was a classic Mondrian assignment: make boxes on white paper with a sharpie, and fill in blocks of color.
I was concerned that everyone might have a bit of trouble staying in the lines, and creating perfectly straight, bolds field of color…but I came up with a great solution: instead of using paint, we used brightly colored masking tapes! It really worked great: the kids had nice control over the materials, and were happy with their results.
